Fluff

Ruby Sees All jumper, Cameo skirt, Jeffrey Campbell crochet litas, Sportsgirl sunnies

Oh Melbourne, you funny thing. This morning I woke up with every intention to kickstart my day with a run. The sky however threatened with looming clouds and gusty winds and I swear I'd already felt drops of rain. An hour later I'm sitting here looking out into your gloomy clouds, and the ground is still dry as ever. Melbourne 1 - Nicole 0.

This jumper does everything a good jumper should do. Soft, (very) fluffy and cozy, it is nothing short of comforting. You might've noticed I love working with a limited, or single colour palette, which lets me play up on shape or textural details. This skirt ticks both boxes with its subtle metallic foil sheen and flared skirt Cameo does so well. I know, I'm obsessed, and happily so.

Swish

Finders Keepers lime dress, ASOS culottes, ASOS sequin clutch, Sportsgirl necklace, Jo Mercer heels

Let's flash right back to two weeks ago. MBFWA, Sydney. I finally got the pleasure of meeting the lovely Liz from Street Smith and managed to fit in a couple of shoots together. This outfit was my favourite from the week with a healthy dose of colour and print so imagine my surprise and delight when I realised that I had been street-snapped by Zanita and Harper's Bazaar! I was instantly drawn to these swishy wide-leg culottes on ASOS and a last minute stroke of genius (or so I thought) saw me throwing them on over a dress - an instant wardrobe update technique if you would that I have since repeated :)

Beautiful Disaster

Rodeo Show lace dress and leather skirt, Cameo floral bomber, Jeffrey Campbell crochet litas, Michael Kors watch

The days are getting shorter and the nights colder; I can safely say now that Autumn is finally here. Possibly the most wondrous part about this time of year, is how leaves turn into beautiful warm shades of red, orange and yellow. That fascinates me. It was raining on and off the morning we shot this, leaving a cold tinge in the air, yet something quietly refreshing - you know that feeling of stepping outside just after it rains? I love how this outfit comes together - the ever so romantic juxtaposition of lace and leather, and the added interest of this semi-sheer bomber. (I did warn you about my growing attraction to bomber jackets, didn't I?) The song Beautiful Disaster has also been playing in my head as I write this and for some reason seems weirdly fitting - I blame that on my recent evenings spent with The Voice.

Mirror mirror

Jolie & Deen dress, Zara bag, Asos heels (similar here), Michael Kors watch

For all the mirrored prints that I have seen going around, I don't think I've actually stopped for a good, close look at any one of them. Cue Jolie & Deen. The latest print addition to their mystically named 'Black Romance' collection comes in a selection of styles and cuts that leaves you spoiled for choice. This comfortably tailored piece with an A-line skirt is not a silhouette I'm used to but its simplicity and clean cut is definitely growing on me - and if you decide you're more of a mix-and-match kinda person, this two-piece print mania might just tickle your printastic tastebuds <3

SWINGIN' PINK

Cameo dress, Asos heels and bag

Cameo has to be just about my favourite label at the moment. Quick online peeks each time new collections drop more often than not end up with me spending all evening lusting over their gorgeous pieces, convinced that life would be so much better with a Cameo-centric wardrobe. And yet I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is they do that never fails to lure me in.

Pink - bright, hot pink in particular, certainly seems to be sneaking its way back onto my radar and this amazing dress with its high neck, slit back and swingy, flappy skirt was an easy choice for MBFWA shows last week! I can't believe how quickly the week has flown and again thank goodness for the weekend - me thinks a lovely night in with a home-cooked dinner and leisurely baking is in order :)

Double Check

Elliatt Geocheck Bomber and Dress; Karen Walker belt via Fame Agenda, Zara heels, Sportsgirl necklace

And the bomber love continues! This time in the form of an amazing black and white geometric print, complete with panelled sleeves and polished with rose gold zippers. It was double the joy when I realised it came with a matching dress and loved that the geometric duo went perfectly with these monochrome tweed heels. An extra cinch at the waist was taken care of with this adorable belt and voila, I wore this to day 2 of MBFWA in Sydney last week!

Blooms

Topshop top, Zukoh floral shorts, Tony Bianco flatforms, Jolie & Deen necklace

Snapped this happy colour combination just before I jetted off for Sydney and when Melbourne was still blessed with mild 20-something weather. Striking red and purple on first instincts might seem a little jarring but yet again I manage another floral-printed piece that marries these two colours with ease! And I know I have raved about Jolie & Deen's necklace range but here is another simple example of why I love their jewellery collection.

Happy snaps from MBFWA coming your way x

MBFWA #1

Lee jeans and top via Glue Store, Windsor Smith sneaker wedges, Sportsgirl scarf, Jolie & Deen necklace, Zara bag

Hello from MBFWA in Sydney! It's not very often you find me in black top to toe but this amazing knit scarf in the hottest of hot pinks needed to be showcased on a fussfree canvas and finished just with pops of lip and nail colour. I've been looking for slightly waxed black jeans for awhile that weren't too synthetic-looking or overly glossy and these Lee jeans with their ankle zip details fit like a glove - it was love at first wear! And oh am I thankful for these genius wedged sneaker babies that have taken me everywhere these two days I've been in Sydney. Stay tuned for more MBFWA action over the week <3

Print-stinct

Jolie & Deen blouse, Wish pants, Asos heels

I would say that I could actually possibly live in these pants for the rest of my life, but that sounds like a hell of a long time so perhaps, for as long as these pants could decently be worn. With a gorgeous print and slight slouch, they're comfortable and good-looking - exactly the kind of pants my wardrobe welcomes with open arms.

Pair it simply with a black tank for lazy Sundays, or a white silk cami and slim heels for a dressier look, but me being me, was waiting for something special to pop by. I had visited Jolie & Deen in prep for MBFWA in Sydney and was very pleasantly surprised with this beautiful mirrored print, and even more so when (in my head) it partnered so perfectly with these printed pants. My inner print-stinct had been satisfied and I went home a happy girl.

And now I had better get going to pack for an early flight to Sydney tomorrow for MBFWA. Can't wait to share it all with you - come along on Instagram for the ride! x
